Stoneware Vase with Sculpted Red Flowers
Two flowers that stay in bloom whether or not the vase is filled.
This vase is built by hand from stoneware, with a sculpted flower on each shoulder where handles would usually be. Every petal is shaped and attached one at a time, then brushed with a red glaze that pools in the folds and thins to cream at the edges. The body is finished in a glossy cream glaze that shows the soft facets left from building it.
The opening is wide enough for a loose, garden-style bunch. On a shelf with nothing in it, the piece reads as a small sculpture.
